In addition to providing on-ice entertainment for local fans, the Prince George Cougars will also be pushing for community support when they attend certain home games.
The Cats announced a new ticketing initiative today (Sept. 11) that will see local not-for-profits be lifted financially through the Hell Yeah Prince George Charity Zone.
Here's how it works:
Fans can purchase tickets for sections ‘S’ and ‘T,’ dubbed as the HYPG Charity Zone, for every home game Prince George plays on a Friday or Saturday night at the CN Centre, and $5 from each that are sold will be donated to charities in the city.
Tickets for those sections will be $15 per person, per game.
There will also be a special promotional code for each game that residents can use to buy tickets for the HYPG Charity Zone online at TicketsNorth.ca or in-person at the box office.

“We pride ourselves on continually looking for ways to contribute back to our community, and this partnership with HYPG is a natural fit for us,” said Cougars Vice-President of Business Andy Beesley in a team statement. “We’re excited to work closely with many charities that have a major impact in Prince George, and look forward to having a great atmosphere inside the CN Centre.”
‘S’ and ‘T’ are corner sections located to the left of the Cougars home bench.
The first recipient of this initiative will be the Prince George Hospice Society when the Cougars open their 2019-20 Western Hockey League (WHL) season next Friday, Sept. 20.
The next night, Saturday, Sept. 21, it’ll be the northern capital’s branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association’s turn to receive the donations.
Puck-drop for both games is 7 p.m. against the Vancouver Giants.
More information is available on the Cougars’ website.
The Cats are in Dawson Creek tomorrow (Sept. 12) and Saturday (Sept. 14) for a pair of pre-season matches against the Edmonton Oil Kings.
