A new set of traffic lights at a major intersection in lower College Heights will soon up and running.
The lights at the corner of Domano Boulevard and St. Lawrence Avenue/Gladstone Drive will be in full operation starting today at 1 p.m., the City said in a statement.
With the help of vehicle detection technology, the lights will remain green on Domano until vehicles approach the intersection on Gladstone Drive or St. Lawrence Avenue.
They also include pedestrian-activated crosswalks and “permissive left turns," which means turning can occur on the green light when it is safe to do so.
Work on the array began in September. The signals have been flashing red since late last week and operating as a four-way stop in order to test the lights.
"The City of Prince George wishes to thank residents for their patience as crews carried out this important operation and for driving cautiously around road crews," the City said.
