More COVID-19 infections have been detected at Jubilee Lodge since an outbreak was officially declared this week.
According to Northern Health, six more residents and three additional staff members have tested positive for the virus since Monday (Dec. 14) for a new total of 12 found at the Prince George long-term care facility since Saturday (Dec. 12).
This is a result of more testing being done at the home, located next to University Hospital of Northern BC (UHNBC) where a precautionary outbreak was lifted today (Dec. 16).
Three cases, two residents and one staff, were initially confirmed from the weekend; that's now eight residents and four staff marked with COVID-19.
Jubilee Lodge is currently applying the following enhanced outbreak control measures:
- Increased screening for all staff and residents
- Cleaning and infection control measures have been enhanced
- Staff and resident movement in the facility has been restricted
- Temporary suspension of social visits (essential visits are not impacted, and are continuing)
Northern Health explains communication is ongoing with staff, residents and their families.
“Northern Health continues to take steps to protect the health of all Jubilee Lodge staff and residents,” reads a statement this afternoon.
“Enhanced control measures are in place, as well as additional supports for the facility to address quality, answer questions from staff, residents and family, and to provide active checks of symptoms with staff and residents.
No deaths have currently been reported from the outbreak.
Jubilee Lodge remains the only full outbreak declared in Prince George.
Today, both precautionary outbreaks at UHNBC and Gateway Lodge ended after officials said there’s no evidence to suggest the ongoing spread of lab-confirmed cases.
No official number was given for UHNBC, but Northern Health said there were multiple cases found in the Family Medicine Unit, while only two were detected at Gateway Lodge.
