NITRO Motorsports Park opens up season with weekend drag racing event

Racing returned to NITRO Motorsports Park despite soggy weekend weather
The sounds of revving engines and cars speeding down the track returned to NITRO Motorsports Park this past weekend. The quarter-mile drag strip was hosting their first racing of the season, the two-day Summit ET Bracket Racing event. Racing was supposed to start on Saturday morning but Mother Nature had other ideas and the skies opened up soaking the track after less than a handful of racers made their first pass on the track. After a 30-minute shower the sun once again came out and the track crew spent nearly two hours drying off the track only for the skies to darken back up and the rain fell again, preventing any racing from taking place for the remainder of the day. Sunday morning saw much better conditions and a dry track allowed the twenty-five racers who were competing in the weekend event to take their turns making passes down the drag strip. Drivers competed in No Box, Box, and Junior classes.
