B.C. now has a total of 2,428 COVID-19 cases, according to the latest update from Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry this afternoon (May 16).
Henry announced there has been 21 new test-positive recorded cases across B.C. in the past 24 hours.
Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry reports that there are 878 cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, 1,184 in Fraser Health, 126 on Vancouver Island and 181 in Interior Health.
In total, 15 long-term care or assisted-living facilities and five acute-care units have active cases. There are 326 residents affected as well as 199 staff.

Six staff members and two patients have tested positive for COVID-19 in the ICU section of Abbotsford Regional Hospital.
There are no new community outbreaks to report on Saturday, though public health officials are continuing to investigate the most recent community outbreak, with three confirmed cases currently associated with the Oppenheimer Group, a fruit and vegetable processing plant in Coquitlam.
Northern Health has recorded another case, for a new total of 59.
One more death has occurred in the past day, bringing the total to 141.
Henry added 1,932 people have fully recovered from the virus and are no longer required to be in isolation.
