Lauren Irving was showcased by Northern Health during Nurses' Week doing her work at the Central Interior Native Healthy Society clinic.

As a way to celebrate Nurses’ Week Northern Health featured Lauren Irving a family nurse practitioner working at the Central Interior Native Health Society clinic in Prince George.

As a family nurse practitioner, Irving works with a variety of patients in a clinical setting as part of a larger, integrated team of healthcare professionals and Northern Health created a video about her and the clinic.

“At Central Interior Native Health Society it’s a multi-disciplinary healthcare team,” Irving said in the video. “Within the clinic there is a range of healthcare professionals. We have three GPs (general practitioners) right now, and three nurse practitioners, we have a physiotherapist, we have a social worker, wellness counsellors, some registered nurses and we have Aboriginal support workers.”

At the Central Interior Native Health Society they recognize the inequity in health status between Aboriginal Peoples and mainstream society. The clinic serves to restore balance through a holistic approach to healthcare that promotes physical, spiritual, emotional and cultural harmony within all Aboriginal Peoples who reside in North Central British Columbia.

Northern Health went on to express their appreciation for Irving and the rest of the nurse practitioners who work and live in the Northern Health Authority region.
