The Northern Interior region has seen a substantial drop in COVID-19 cases during the past week.
According to the latest Geographic Distribution of COVID-19 by Health Service Delivery Area of Case Residence data released by the BCCDC, the Northern Interior saw 53 cases from Feb. 19-25, 2021.
The northwest region saw a major increase, recording 157 cases during the same time period while the northeastern portion of the province saw 50.
From January 2020 to Feb. 25, 2021, the Northern Interior has seen almost 2,000 cases, coming in at 1,907.
The northwest has recorded more than 1,500 with BCCDC data showing there have been 1,545 cases.
Northeast B.C. have surpassed 1,000 cases with 1,023.
As of this publication, Northern Health has a total of 4,511 cases since March of last year.
There are currently 33 in hospital, 11 of which are in ICU or critical care.
Northern Health has 288 active cases with 4,119 classified as fully recovered.
The region has seen 106 lives lost to the virus.
