The Northern Lights made a spectacular show in Prince George Sunday night.
Local photographer Kris Foot was able to capture the lights from Cottonwood Island Park.
He took four vertical photos and stitched them together to create a panoramic image of the entire sky.
The Northern Lights known also known as an aurora borealis occur when charged particles (electrons and protons) collide with gases in the Earth’s upper atmosphere producing tiny flashes that fill the sky with colourful light.
As billions of these tiny flashes occur in sequence, the lights appear to move or "dance."
The northern lights are most often seen between mid-September and mid-March and usually, you’d need to travel away from town to avoid light pollution to get a good view, but one-in-a-while the lights can be seen dancing right over the city.
