The University of Northern British Columbia might be the best place to celebrate the start of the Olympic Winter Games today.
Organized by the Northern Undergraduate Student Society, a winter carnival will kick off at 3 p.m. at the campus and will feature hay rides, live entertainment, winter treats, and a variety of competitions including a snowman building contest, crazy carpet races, a winter relay and a scavenger hunt.
It culminates at 5:30 with an Olympic celebration that features complimentary food and custom UNBC mittens and is followed by live coverage of the opening ceremony from B.C. Place at 6 p.m.
