Social distancing doesn’t mean complete social isolation, and thanks to technology there’s a lot of ways to connect with others from afar.

Watching a movie with friends or family is one of the many things a lot of us have taken for granted now that the entire country is being advised to stay home and away from others to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Luckily there’s a Chrome browser extension called Netflix Party that lets you watch the popular streaming service with friends.

The extension synchronizes video playback and adds a group chat feature.

The extension was last updated on March 20 and now has over 2 million users. To use the service, you just have to make sure you’re using a Chrome web browser and then download the free extension from the Chrome webstore. Of course, you’ll also need a Netflix account.

Once you have the extension installed you’ll choose a show on Netflix, click on the NP button, then just share the Netflix Party url to invite your friends.

Movie nights can now continue!
