Prince George's Park Drive-in Theatre will open at the beginning of May, with a few adjustments to facilitate social distancing.
With the protective metal barrier of your car to keep you physically apart from others, one of B.C.'s last remaining drive-in theatres will soon provide a place to go in the wake of COVID-19.
In a Facebook post announcing its plans to open, the theatre says it will be taking the following steps to promote safety:
- It will be limiting attendance to half capacity and using every second parking space
- It will be opening more days per week.
- There will be no cash transactions with Interac transactions only, tap available. The theatre is also working on a pre-purchase ticket system
- The concession will operate through a checklist with delivery to vehicle
- Social distancing will apply for bathroom use
- Hand sanitation stations will be available throughout the theatre
- There will be more frequent cleaning
- Park Drive-in will also show only one movie instead of the usual two movies to limit social interactions
- There will be a reduced admission price
In a previous post, the drive-in said it was also looking at possibly showing older movies as many studios have pushed back new releases this summer because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Park Drive-in also says it will update on the mini-golf and go-karts at a later date.
