It was standing room only at the Bookworm Boogie, the first of the IceJams to be presented alongside the Coldsnap Music Festival mainstage shows help all over town until Feb. 4.
BookWorm Boogie was presented by the Oot n’ Oots from Kelowna on Saturday morning at the Bob Harkins Branch of the Prince George Public Library that saw children dancing to the beat while parents grooved in their seats.
The Prince George Public Library saw a high-energy performance from The Oot n' Oots with lyrics that are educational and age-appropriate. The Oot n' Oots cast offers rock n’ roll music to bring their message to their very happy audience.
The group performed their original songs like Golden Rule, Tiny Horsey, Once Upon a Dream, Too Many Cookies and Hands in the Ground.
The Oot n’ Oots is a family who creates music geared for families. The band features 16-year-old Ruthie Cipes with her dad Ez and Uncles Ari, Gabe, and Matthew, who all come from Kelowna.
It was Ruthie's birthday Saturday so the crowd that spilled out of the Keith Gordon Room and into the children's library sang her the Happy Birthday song in honour of her sweet 16.
The IceJams are free mini-concerts featuring Coldsnap artists. These programs are sponsored by Integris Credit Union, Omineca Arts Centre, Lheidli T’enneh First Nation and Sound Factory.
There are also free hands-on educational sessions led by musicians who talk about the art of making music with those in attendance.
