Open burn ban lifted Thursday at noon in parts of Prince George Fire Centre

Category 2 and 3 open burning will remain prohibited in the Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, and Fort Nelson fire zones.

As of noon on Thursday, Oct. 5, Category 2 and 3 open burning prohibitions will be rescinded for Prince George, Vanderhoof, Fort St. James, Mackenzie and Robson fire zones.

All open burning is now permitted in these areas.

However, Category 2 and 3 open burning will remain prohibited in the Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, and Fort Nelson fire zones.

This means that the following equipment and activities remain prohibited in these areas:

  • Category 2 open burning as defined in the wildfire regulation
  • Category 3 open burning as defined in the wildfire regulation
  • Fireworks
  • Sky lanterns
  • Burn barrels or burn cages of any size or description
  • Binary exploding targets

Prohibitions apply to all public and private lands unless otherwise specified (e.g. in an enactment or local government bylaw). Please check with your local authorities before lighting any fire.
