Canada has reacted to new 25 per cent U.S. tariffs with tariffs of its own, affecting a wide variety of items imported into Canada from the United States.

The federal government has issued a detailed list of American-made goods that will be subject to new 25 per cent tariffs on import into Canada.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the tariffs Saturday after U.S. President Donald Trump imposed new tariffs on Canadian goods exported to the United States.

The list includes shoes, furniture, clothing, food and drinks including coffee, wine and spirits, tools, electric vehicles and more.

The Canadian tariffs take effect Tuesday.
