A lot happens in Prince George throughout the year and we are pleased to capture all the action. They say a picture is worth a thousand words so a photo gallery is surely worth a few thousand more. So into the spirit of year-end nostalgia, we’ve rounded up our photo galleries from some of 2019’s most colourful and memorable community events.

Winterfest
One of the first big events of the year was downtown Winterfest, where everyone bundled up, faced the cold and headed outside to have some fun at the annual winter festival.

Summerfest
The annual summer festival in Downtown Prince George happened on — what could possibly have been — the rainiest day of the year. But despite the near-constant rain, thousands of people came out to take in the summer fun and enjoy the entertainment and food.

Fallfest
Although Winterfest and Summerfest are familiar favourites, this year was the first-ever Downtown Fallfest. It featured the largest farmers market of the year and coincided with CrossRoad’s Street Festival, which meant downtown was absolutely packed with action.

Pride
Prince George’s Pride festival took over the streets on July 6, after the Pride flag was officially raised at city hall on July 3. Pride-related activities took place all weekend.

Canada Day
Canaday Day celebrations at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park are a staple in Prince George’s summer. Although this year was a little bit rainy and cloudy, it didn’t stop folks from coming out and celebrating the nation’s 152nd birthday.

Indigenous Peoples Day
National Indigenous Peoples Day is celebrated on June 21 and people of all ages came to Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park to mark the occasion. There was food, works of art, booths, entertainment and other activities.

Art in Art In The Park At Ancient Forest/Chun T'oh Whudujut
At the end of August, one of the most magical places around Prince George got a little more magical. The free event celebrated the beauty, biodiversity and wonder of B.C.'s Ancient Forest/Chun T'oh Whudujut Provincial Park, where local artists and musicians scattered throughout the forest performing and displaying their creations. This year’s event also celebrated the legacy of Lheidli T’enneh Elder Mary Gouchie and dedicated a Gathering Place to her memory.

Mega Bounce Run
The first annual Mega Bounce Run in Prince George, co-hosted by Big Brothers Big Sisters Prince George (BBBSPG), was well-attended in May. More than 400 people bounced their way through a five-kilometre track while also running or walking between obstacles.

Vaisakhi
This year’s Vaisakhi celebrations in Prince George saw hundreds of residents march through local streets with handcrafted floats leading them from the Gurudwara Sahib Guru Nanak Darbar to the CN Centre.

Hospice Colour Walk
The first-ever Hospice Colour Walk took place this year. A sea of hundreds of people, wearing bright white clothes, filled the University of Northern British Columbia campus this May, as they got ready to walk the university loop and get covered in all kinds of coloured powders.

Red Dress Campaign
In September, nearly 50 people came out in the rain to stand at the intersection of Highway 16 and 97 to participate in the fourth annual Prince George Red Dress Campaign. It began at the feet of Mr. PG; red dresses were displayed as a symbol to both honour and raise awareness for murdered and missing Indigenous women and girls.

Remembrance Day
Hundreds of people came out in the cold to share in a moment of silence on Remembrance Day. The parade assembled along Canada Games Way and marched to the cenotaph at city hall.

Climb for Cancer
Prince George residents faced an uphill challenge to raise money for cancer as they climbed the cut banks this April. This event raised close to $60,000 for the Kordyban Lodge and proved how tough Prince Georgians truly are.

Father’s Day Show and Shine
Everyone loves classic cars, especially dads. The annual Father’s Day Show and Shine is always a hit and is a beloved tradition for many dads and kids in the city. This year was no exception.

Women shouted and walked through the streets of downtown Prince George as a part of the 27th annual Take Back the Night March this fall.

Goodsir Nature Park’s 30th Anniversary
Jim Good, who founded Goodsir Nature Park on his Salmon Valley property, celebrated the park's 30th anniversary this year. He read a special declaration he had written 30 years prior, about his hope for the park.

Relay for Life
The 27th annual Relay for Life raised $325,000 this year. More than 90 teams registered for the event, and nearly 20 individuals committed to walking the entire 24 hours.
