Over $25,000 has been raised for Ted Fisher, a helicopter pilot and father of four from Quesnel, who was in a motorcycle accident after hitting a moose.
Fisher was on his second day off in more than 25 days of flying during the intense wildfire season. On Aug. 14 he was on his way home from Troll when he hit the moose in the road.
His wife Robyn was following behind him in their truck and she had to swerve to miss hitting the injured moose and her husband.
Fisher has now undergone spinal surgery and is also suffering from a fractured skull, minor brain bleed and broken orbital bones, hand and sternum.
He's is the main breadwinner for his family, so the GoFundMe fundraiser is intended to provide extra support as Fisher and his family begin the long road to recovery.
“They just need some help to get them through this tough time and help Ted recovery properly and not be worried about getting back to work like he already tried to say he needed to do,” wrote Brooke L’Heureux, family friend and organizer of the GoFundMe campaign.
“They haven’t gotten any recovery dates or times from the spinal surgeon yet, but it could be a long road ahead for this team. Ted is still smiling and cracking his beloved terrible jokes!”
The campaign has raised $26, 146 of its original $30,000 goal in less than 24 hours since it was launched.
Those who wish to donate to the campaign can do so through GoFundMe.
