Oversized truck load to cause highway delays

A large commercial vehicle transporting an oversized cargo between Prince Rupert and Chetwynd will cause traffic delays along Highways 16 and 97 from Jan. 10 to Jan. 14.

According to the B.C. Ministry of Transportation, the vehicle will depart Prince Rupert on Jan. 10. Drivers should expect traffic delays on Highway 16 between Prince Rupert and Terrace between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. on Jan. 10.

On Jan. 11, the vehicle will travel between Terrace and Topley on Highway 16 between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

On Jan. 12, drivers can expect delays on Highway 16 between Topley and Prince George from midnight to 5 a.m.

On Jan. 13 the vehicle will go from Highway 16 to Highway 97 in Prince George, and then carry on to Bear Lake between midnight and 5 a.m.

Finally, on Jan. 14, the vehicle will travel from Bear Lake on Highway 97 to Highway 29, then onto Jackfish Lake Road, just north of Chetwynd, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The schedule is subject to change, depending on weather and road conditions, the Ministry of Transportation statement said.

The nature of the oversized load wasn't provided.
