Pandemic claims two more lives in northern B.C.

The B.C. Centre for Disease Control reported two new COVID-related deaths in the Northern Health region on Wednesday.

The deaths bring the region’s death toll from the pandemic to 290. As of Wednesday, 35 people in the Northern Health region were hospitalized with COVID-19, including 16 in critical care.

The B.C. CDC reported 191 new cases of COVID-19 in the north of Wednesday. There were 1,119 active cases of COVID on Wednesday, up by 14 from Tuesday.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 26,520 cases of COVID-19 in northern B.C.

More than 11 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in B.C., as of Wednesday, including 509,511 in the Northern Health region.
