Snowforest Campground won't live up to its name right away.
The new campground is being opened by Parks Canada in Mount Revelstoke National Park July 15, when there isn't much snow around, even on the famed mountain.
The site is located along the Meadows in the Sky Parkway which leads up the popular mountain.
There are 62 sites, but when it opens just 36 will be open due to COVID-19 restrictions. Sites aren't all the same, there's a variety of options for camping, trailers and RVs. There are also three MicrOcubes, tiny cabins around 10 meters squared.
The campground is fairly modern as well, with wheelchair-accessible sites, flush toilets and hot showers available.
Online reservations launched July 7 at 8 a.m. Options will be limited at first.
Camping fees range from $28 to over $122. It's expected to close for the season in early October.
"Snowforest makes a perfect base camp for exploring Mount Revelstoke and Glacier national parks, as well as the surrounding area," states Parks Canada on Snowforest's webpage.
