A section of Fifth Avenue will be closed to traffic on Wednesday, April 9 for watermain utility work.

City crews will be excavating on Fourth Avenue just west of Quebec Street, resulting in the closure of Fifth Avenue further west.

A detour will be set up to run along Melville Avenue and Ross Crescent starting at 7:30 a.m. The closure is anticipated to last all day and finish at 5 p.m. but this is subject to change, the city advises.

The city advises residents to exercise caution around the work zone and pay attention to signage and directions from the traffic control personnel.

Some homes will have their water turned off for the day, the city advises. Those households will be notified in writing.
