Paving along University Way took a little longer than first expected when three sections were ripped up Wednesday and repaved after they failed to meet city standards.
City street operations supervisor Ed Shearer said the contractor will cover the cost of the additional work which delayed completion of the project by about a day.
In all, 3.4 lane kilometers of University Way, from 15th Avenue to Tabor Boulevard, were repaved at a total cost of $863,000.
The stretch from Shane Creek Bridge to Tabor Boulevard was added on to the city's list of projects after the cost of completing the 13 original projects finished under budget.
