A teen girl was taken to hospital after being hit by a truck earlier this morning (Nov. 15).

Prince George Mounties say a pickup truck was travelling southbound on Carney Street when it began turning left (eastbound) onto 15th Avenue, and struck a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

The male driver immediately stopped and called 911.

The female was transported to the hospital for treatment. Police issued the driver a ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian.

"Whether you are walking or driving, everyone has an obligation to keep road users safe, including yourselves," reads a press release.

Drivers are being asked to slow down and stay focused on the road, particularly at intersections. Pedestrians are being reminded to wear bright and reflective clothing, and to make eye contact with drivers, even when walking on a green light or walk signal.
