A Prince George man is facing serious injuries following a motor vehicle collision out of town.

On Saturday evening, Terrace RCMP were notified that a pedestrian was struck by the mirror of a passing pick up truck.

The victim, a 20-year-old Prince George resident in town for a funeral, was taken to Terrace Hospital. He regained consciousness and was reportedly able to walk around, but his condition soon changed and dramatically declined due to a possible brain injury.

The man was flown to Vancouver Hospital for specialized medical treatment.

"RCMP Victim Services are assisting the family at this very difficult time," said North District RCMP spokesperson Const. Lesley Smith.

According to the RCMP, the 30-year-old driver of the pick up truck was sober and co-operative with police.

Terrace RCMP and the Integrated Collision Analyst and Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate the collision and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or can provide information to help with the investigation to contact them at 250-638-7400.
