Prince George Mounties are investigating after a body was found in a ditch in the West Lake area as well as a burning vehicle near Beaverly.
RCMP say they received a report on Jan. 12 at 10:30 a.m. of a vehicle fire on Chilako Station Road, off of Highway 16 in the Beaverly area, which is just west of Prince George city limits.
The Beaverly Volunteer Fire Department attended the scene and put out the vehicle blaze, which appeared to be abandoned.
Later that day at approximately 1:30 p.m., police received another report of a person lying in a ditch along West Lake Estates Road, off Blackwater Road, which is south of city limits.
When officers arrived, they found a man dead in the ditch.
The BC RCMP's North District Major Crime Unit was called in and took over the investigation, which is being treated as a homicide.
At this time, police have said the man is a 40-year-old resident of Prince George, adding they believe the homicide is not random.
Mounties are now trying to determine if there is any connection between the vehicle fire and the homicide.
In a release, investigators are asking anyone with information about suspicious vehicles or person on West Lake Estates Road, Blackwater Road, Lower Mud River Road, Chilako Station Road, or McBride Timber Road on the morning of Jan. 12th, to contact Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300, or Crime-Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Police say no other information will be released at this time.
