It was a beautiful sunny morning for the first ever Hospice Colour Walk to celebrate life.
A sea of hundreds of people, wearing bright white clothes filled the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) campus this Sunday (May 26) as they got ready to walk the university loop and get covered in all kinds of coloured powders.
Mayor Lyn Hall was on hand to say a few words during the opening ceremonies, as well as MLA Shirley Bond, and Prince George Hospice Society’s executive director Donna Flood.
A traditional Lheidli T’enneh territory acknowledgement and prayer was given by Elder Darlene McIntosh.
The colours were thrown in celebration of lives lived, and participants got a new colour thrown at them for every station they made it to on the walk. The more times they completed the loop, the more colourful they got!

Animals were included, as well, with many pets leaving the event covered in all colours of the rainbow. PG Animal Rescue was also onsite with a pony sporting a rainbow mane, and there were also bouncy castles and balloon animals for the kids.
Proceeds raised – it was $25 dollars for individuals to register for the event and $75 dollars for families – go towards supporting the Prince George Hospice Society.
