Zaga's Hemp Shop is now so much more.
The longtime Prince George staple officially opened their doors at 9:30 a.m. this morning (Aug. 20) able to sell legal cannabis products to the public.
"It's really exciting," owner Fred Burnnett tells PrinceGeorgeMatters. "Customers have actually been asking for probably two years for us to when it first came out that they were going to legalize, that they wanted us to. It was a lot of work."
He adds his wife Ginny, who also owns the store, has been working on the process of selling legal cannabis since March.
"Because our customers drove us to do it, we're going to keep the prices as low as we possibly can," Burnnett adds. "We've wanted to do this since we opened up."
While they're the second legal cannabis retailer to sell in Prince George (Grasshopper Retail Inc. opening last month), but Burnnett says that hasn't deterred them being in the top three.
"It would have been nice to be first," he says. "We're going to be second, but we're going to be second to none now."
Burnnett says the process to order products was tough at times, with some being sold out when going to order but adds companies were always telling them when the stock was available again.
Zaga's carries over 50 strains including single rolls, triple rolls, capsules, leaf, and other options.
The Burnett's opened Zaga's in 2004.
