It was Nov. 6, 1974 when the doors opened to the first phase of the Pine Centre Mall.
Celebrating 40 years, the Pine Centre has partnered with Northland Hyundai to offer patrons of the mall a chance to Ride Away with a Sante Fe on Nov. 28.
Along with the draw for the car and a chance to win a trip for two to Puerto Vallarta Mexico, there will also be Pine Centre gift card giveaways as well as trivia contests that will offer thousands of dollars worth of prizes.
The information for the trivia contest will be found in a supplement presented by the Prince George Citizen, similar to the one that introduced all the features of the Pine Centre when it first opened.
With a minimum $5 donation that goes to the local Big Brothers Big Sisters, people can get the supplement filled with information about the past and present to participate in the trivia contest on CKPG radio stations.
Kyle Bachman, dealer principal of Northland Hyundai, made the announcement at the grand opening Thursday of the Hyundai Hang Out Nostalgia Lounge found at Centre Court at the Pine Centre Mall. Hyundai will match all donations to Big Brothers Big Sisters to double the fundraising effort for the cause. Big Brothers Big Sisters Canada provides volunteer opportunities to adults to be a friend and positive role model to youth throughout Canada.
The official birthday party to celebrate the Pine Centre Mall's 40th year will be held Saturday, Nov. 8 at Centre Court.
