Piper in the park for this year's Prince George Parkinson's SuperWalk

The annual event took place Saturday in communities around BC

Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond and Gina Beddome, of the Prince George Parkinson's Support Group, inspired the gathered walkers Lheidli T'enneh Memorial Park Pavilion before heading out to walk around the park for the Parkinson' SuperWalk Saturday.

About 40 people headed to Lheidli T'enneh Memorial Park Saturday for the annual Parkinson's SuperWalk.

It's the Parkinson Society British Columbia's largest fundraising event of the year with more than 20 communities throughout the province walking together to help the approximately 17,500 people in BC living with Parkinson's disease.

Parkinson Support Group meetings are the third Saturday of each month. The next meeting is Saturday, Sept. 21 at 1 p.m. at the Spruce Capital Seniors Centre, 3701 Rainbow Dr. Meetings are informal and are for sharing information about slowing down the progression of the disease.

There are guest speakers, special events and biweekly exercise sessions and positive social interaction.

Enter through the lower parking lot beside the ball diamond to access the seniors centre.
