A man has been charged with possessing a stolen vehicle following a high-profile arrest Tuesday evening in the Hart.

A helicopter, the police dog service unit, street crew unit and frontline officers were all deployed in the apprehension of Blaine Malcolm Douglas, 37.

Police also got some help from the public as witnesses recognized the vehicle as one stolen earlier that morning from the Chetwynd area.

"It was a company truck and they knew the owner, so they recognized the logo when they saw it," Cpl. Jennifer Cooper said.

Prince George RCMP were contacted and police flooded the area near Highway 97 and Austin Road. They found the vehicle while several people nearby told police that the driver fled on foot across the highway.

Douglas was located a short distance away, on the 3700-block of Winslow Drive, and police arrested him without incident.

Douglas, who hails from Sorrento has been released on an order with a condition that he remain in Prince George.

The truck has since been returned to its owner, Cooper said.
