Police are seeking witnesses to a single-vehicle fatal collision that occurred on Highway 16 last month and claimed one life.

On Saturday, Sept. 26 at about 6:30 p.m., RCMP responded to the incident near Hillcrest Way, about 40 km east of Vanderhoof in Cluculz Lake.

The two occupants of the newer pickup truck were both ejected from the vehicle during the collision.

A northern B.C. woman in her 20’s was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical crews while an Alberta woman, also in her 20’s, was transported by BC Emergency Health Services to hospital for injuries 'serious in nature.'

Highway 16 was closed in both directions for several hours to allow emergency crews to fully examine and safely clear the crash scene.

Prince George Regional Traffic Services (PGRTS) has since taken over the investigation and police are asking for witnesses to come forward, as well as dashboard camera video.

Investigators believe that at least two commercial truck drivers may have had a 'near-miss' with the vehicle involved in the fatal collision.

The vehicle involved was a black, 2018 Chevrolet Silverado pickup with an Alberta licence plate, travelling west on Highway 16 towards Vanderhoof.

The commercial trucks involved are believed to be a westbound bulk transport truck and an eastbound tanker truck.

The drivers are asked to contact investigators with any information they may have regarding this vehicle or the collision.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact Cpl. Michael Collis or Cst. Leonor Blanche of PGRTS at 250-649-4004 and reference file 2020-577.
