A section of Victoria Street has been closed so city workers can repair a broken culvert.
A half-block stretch south of Milburn Avenue where the asphalt has been crumbling has been blocked off since Thursday morning.
A crew has dug roughly 12 feet down and has found a damaged section of pipe leading into a large culvert that was pulling soil and material away from the spot and destabilizing part of the road. The pipe and culvert are believed to have been installed in 1977.
Today, crews were to determine the best way to fix the damaged culvert and then begin repair work.
Drivers are asked to follow road signs and proceed cautiously around workers.
