The Great Beaver Lake wildland interface fire has grown and the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George is upgrading the evacuation alert to an evacuation order.
This evacuation order covers a larger area of Electoral Area ‘G’ and includes Great Beaver Lake, Tureen Lake, Teardrop Lake and Bugle Lake and three provincial recreation sites.
The 500 Road (Boot) through this area remains open for evacuation traffic only. Anyone in the evacuation order area must leave immediately. The Regional Districts of Bulkley-Nechako, Cariboo and Fraser-Fort George issued multiple evacuation orders and alerts Tuesday night due to approaching wildfires.
At 9:15 p.m., the Cariboo Regional District issued an evacuation order for more than 112,000 hectares in the Pelican Lake area southwest of Prince George. This area includes the community of Titetown, north of Nazko.
Earlier in the evening, the Cariboo Regional District issued evacuation orders covering nearly 17,000 hectares in the Townsend Creek area southwest of Quesnel and another 12,100 hectares in the remote Eliguk Lake area north of Highway 20, which links Williams Lake to Bella Coola on the central coast.
The Bulkley-Nechako Regional District gave an evacuation order at 9 p.m. Tuesday in an area just south of the District of Houston, 7.6 kilometres from Highway 16, due to the advance of the Peacock Creek wildfire. An order was also given earlier Tuesday to evacuate an area east of Burns Lake due to the Tintagel wildfires.
Meanwhile, the Fraser Fort-George Regional District issued an evacuation alert for the Great Beaver Lake, Tureen Lake, Teardrop Lake and Bugle Lake area east of Fort St. James.
