The Prince George Chamber of Commerce (PGCC) is once again calling on the community to acknowledge local businesses and how much they mean to you.

The 34th annual Business Excellence Awards are fast approaching, in which the nomination period has been open as of Monday (May 27) for the public to recognize the hard work local shops have put in daily to make the community an easier and happier place to live and thrive.

“We are home to diverse cross-section of businesses, entrepreneurs and those who excel at making our community a great place to live, work, raise a family and start a business,” said PGCC CEO Todd Corrigall in a release. “As we continue to evolve the BEA’s year over year, becoming more inclusive of the diversity of business, we are excited to introduce several new award categories.”

Staying on that topic, the categories for the 2019 installment of the awards are:

  • Business of the Year
  • Business Person of the Year
  • Service Excellence
  • Environmental Leadership
  • Micro Business of the Year
  • Top Workplace Culture
  • Excellence in Hospitality
  • Excellence in Food & Beverage
  • Remarkable Visitor Experience
  • Top Indigenous Owned Business
  • Top Non-Profit/Charity

“While continuing with some traditional awards, the new categories showcase a more complete view of our community,” added Corrigall. “I am excited to see all of the tremendous business nominations coming forward and look forward to celebrating with the entire business community.”

A complete breakdown of award category criteria and nomination process is available on the PGCC website.

The nomination period closes at 11:59 p.m. on June 24.
