The Prince George Community Foundation (PGCF) is now participating in a program to advance gender equality in Canada and around the world.
The program is called the Pilot Fund for Gender Equality in Canada, centered around peace, power, and planet, three core themes that connect with the women’s movement in Canada and internationally.
Through its participation, the PGCF has granted $25,000 today (Feb. 13) for three local community organizations and projects:
- Big Brother Big Sisters of Northern BC – The “Strong” Project;
- Crisis Prevention, Intervention and Information Centre for Northern BC – Suicide Prevention Workshops for Genders at Risk
- Two Rivers Gallery – MakerLab Youth Immersion
“The Prince George Community Foundation is committed to advancing gender equality in our City. We are proud to join with CFC and the Government of Canada on this Pilot Fund and look forward to future opportunities within the Equality Fund,” says PGCF President Alain LeFebvre.
This pilot is the first step in a multi-year commitment to gender equality by the movement taking place with 26 community foundations across the country.
The learnings from the Pilot Fund for Gender Equality will ultimately inform the creation of a program that will support gender equality in communities from coast to coast to coast.
The Pilot Fund for Gender Equality is supported by a collaboration between Prince George Community Foundation, Community Foundations of Canada and the Equality Fund, with support from the Government of Canada.
