The Prince George Community Foundation and Bulkley Valley Community Foundation teamed up to provide $561,061 in grants to 15 organizations throughout B.C., including in Prince George.
The grants were part of the federal Canada’s Investment Readiness Program, which supports social enterprises, non-profits, charities and co-operatives in their mission to support their communities.
The funding supported projects in Prince George, Dease Lake, 108 Mile Ranch, Salmon Arm, Gibsons, Revelstoke, Kamloops, Powell River, Sunshine Coast and multiple Indigenous communities. The Prince George Peacemakers received $25,000 to support communications solutions.
“There are so many inspiring community leaders looking to make a difference in new and innovative ways,” P.G. Community Foundation director of development Mindy Stroet and Bulkley Valley Community Foundation executive director Deb Camenzind said. “We are looking forward to seeing the IRP help these recipients grow their impact even more.”
The program provided grants ranging from $10,000 to $75,000 to allow social enterprises to expand and get ready to accept investment.
“The Investment Readiness Program has been a catalyst for communities across the country, and we are
delighted to be sharing the program’s results today,” Community Foundations of Canada president Andrea Dicks said. “From coast to coast to coast, social purpose organizations are showcasing bold leadership and rethinking how revenue generation can work alongside increasing community impact.”
