Take a bow, Prince George.

You’re one of the most generous cities in Canada, according to GoFundMe.

The online crowdfunding platform to raise money for charitable causes just released its year-to-date statistics for 2024 and Prince George ranks 13th in Canada for the most people per capita donating to GoFundMe campaigns.

Of a total population of 76,700, more than 3,800 Prince George people  (5.07 per cent) gave money to GoFundMe causes.

The Help Little Mavrik Battle Cancer fundraiser started on Oct. 29 to help the family of Mavrik Turnbull, a two-year-old Prince George boy battling an aggressive form of childhood cancer that requires intense treatments over the next two years at BC Children’s Hospital, has raised $47,430 of its $50,000 goal.

Five of the top-10 on the most generous list are BC cities and Victoria led the way. One in five (21.3 percent) of the 92,000 residents of the provincial capital used GoFundMe to make a contribution.

North Vancouver was next in line, followed by St. John’s, Nfld. Vancouver ranked No. 4, Kelowna was seventh, New Westminster was 10th and Kamloops ranked 20th.
