A promising start for the Prince George Cougars turned bleak once again.
The team struggled on offense in the second half of their game Tuesday night against the Everett Silvertips, falling 4-1 for a consecutive night at the CN Centre, and closing out a four-game-in-five-day stint.
The loss extends Prince George’s losing streak to 17 games in a row and it’s also the fourth time in the last five games they were only able to light the lamp once.
Ethan Browne potted the lone goal in this contest on a power-play six minutes into the first frame for his ninth of the 2018-19 season, assisted by Cole Moberg and Ryan Schoettler.

The Cougars were able to hold onto the 1-0 lead for almost 32 minutes, much to the delight of General Manager and interim Head Coach Mark Lamb.
“I liked a lot of our game tonight. Scoring chance-wise, it was close,” he said in a news release. “Once again, it’s the same type of things that hinder this team. We get into the third period and we needed to stay patient, keep playing hard but the mistakes seem to overflow into a goal. It’s a hard lesson but it’s something we need to get over.”
Everett tipped in their opening goal late in the second, which was followed with three unanswered markers in the third period, which included two in a span of 52 seconds with the fourth goal being an empty-netter.
Taylor Gauthier faced 37 shots in his 45th start of the year, stopping 34 of them.
On the other side of the rink, Dustin Wolf was in net for the second night in a row for the Silvertips, making 16 saves on 17 shots.
Prince George’s record falls to 16-35-4-3 with only 10 games left in the regular season.
The final stretch begins this weekend with a tilt in Kamloops on Friday (Feb. 22), and another against the Silvertips in Everett on Saturday (Feb. 23).
