Two Prince George residents are tying the knot in the new year and they want as many friends, family and Cougars’ fans to bare witness.
The Jan. 25, 2020 contest against Kamloops is the organization’s Vegas Night featured game and in addition to the glitz and glamour associated with the theme, this will also include a legit wedding ceremony during the first intermission between Amanda Chandler and Chris Holmes.
“I was 37 and Chris was 46 at the time we met, so obviously we had both been there, done that,” said Chandler at the Treasure Cove Casino this morning (Nov. 29), explaining she met Chris nearly seven years ago and never doubted that she would spend the rest of her life with him.
“Chris and I always said when we got married, we wanted something low-key, informal, and backyard-barbecue style. That was the plan up until Andy [Beesley] and I obviously started planning for the Vegas night at the Cougars hockey game and we decided to go a little bigger.”

The bride-to-be is also Marketing Manager for Prince George’s premier casino, so when she and Cougars Vice-President of Business Andy Beesley were going over plans for Vegas Night, a white-chapel wedding came into the conversation and decided to say ‘yes.’
“Chris has been a huge Elvis fan his whole life [and] I’ve worked in the casino industry for over 20 years, so it’s a match made in heaven and seemed like a perfect opportunity for us. We want to invite the entire city of Prince George and all our friends and all of our friends’ friends and anyone who can make it, that would be absolutely fantastic to come share in our happiness together.”

According to the Prince George Cougars, this is believed to be the first-ever on-ice wedding during a Canadian Hockey League game and Elvis Presley (Steve Elliott) will perform the ceremony as he is also an ordained minister.
“We are quite confident that this has never ever happened,” said Beesley, who adds this will also be a very unique moment in the city of Prince George’s history.
“What could be better at a Vegas night than having a real-life, genuine, authentic, Vegas-style wedding, and that’s exactly what’s going to happen. We are going to have an amazing night.”
Marilyn Monroe (Kat Fullerton) will also make an appearance at the CN Centre that night to drop the ceremonial puck, sing the national anthem and more songs in busker’s corner.
Fans in attendance over the age of 19 will also be entered for a chance to win a trip for two to Las Vegas.
Details and tickets for the game are available on the Prince George Cougars website.
The Cats-Blazers game begins at 7 p.m.
