Prince George Fire Rescue extinguished a house fire this morning not far from Costco.
At 6:26 a.m. on Jan. 31, crews responded to a structure fire on the 2000 block of Gogolin Road.
The fire was reported by a witness passing by who noticed smoke coming from the basement windows of the home. Three halls were dispatched to a single-family dwelling.
On arrival, crews quickly contained the fire to the basement allowing other crews to search the residence for occupants. The search crews reported no occupants in the structure and the fire in the basement was brought under control.
It is estimated that the damage is $100,000 and the fire appears to have been caused by improper storage of materials around the furnace.
There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
