A group of 45 dedicated contractors and suppliers is building a home which, once complete, will be sold to benefit the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation.

CopperFalls Custom Homes has broken ground on the new 1,542 sq. foot house at 2983 Links Drive, in the Aberdeen Glen subdivision.

“We live and raise our children in Prince George and want the best healthcare services available if and when it is needed,” said Jeff Stewart and Brent Scheck, co-owners of CopperFalls Custom Homes in a statement released by the foundation on Friday. “Healthcare has touched us in many ways already and it is our way of doing what we do best and working with those who support us to collectively have an impact… It shows collaboration in the biggest way.”

Over the past four years, the Copper Project has raised more then $310,000 for a variety of medical equipment at the University Hospital of Northern B.C. The 2022 Copper Project resulted in the purchase of a RT300 Supine Restorative Leg Exerciser for the Intensive Care Unit. The equipment helps promote mobility and leg exercise for intensive care patients and helps facilitate shorter hospital stays and quicker recovery, according to the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation.

“We are so very grateful to Jeff and Brent at CopperFalls Custom Homes, and the incredible group of contractors and suppliers for their generosity and dedication to improving healthcare in the north,” foundation CEO Aimee Cassie said. “This project has had a significant impact and has truly made a difference for patients here at home. It is truly humbling to see a collaboration of this size come together, and the benefit will be felt right here at home by our friends and families."
