There's another activity available for people of all ages during summer amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Prince George Public Library (PGPL) has announced its three summer challenges focusing on reading, activities and exploring the city.

The three challenges are:

  • Summer Reading Program for five to nine-year-olds
  • The Tens to Teens Summer Challenge
  • Adult Summer Challenge

CHILDREN AGES 5-9

Children can grab reading records from curbside holds pickup at either branch or can also download a reading record from the B.C. wide Reading Program website.

The library says at the end of the program, children will submit reading records for a chance to win one of five prize packages that are valued at $150 each.

Each prize has a unique theme and includes items such as books, games, gadgets and gift cards for local businesses.

TEN TO TEENS

Youth ages 10 to 18 will be able to complete challenges every week for a chance to win weekly prizes.

Challenges include 'take a photo with a Little Free Library' and 'create a poem about your favourite hangout spot in Prince George.'

Along with the weekly prizes, those participating will also be able to win one of four prize packages that are valued at $150 each.

ADULTS

The program is coming back after its original launch last year.

Adults can earn entries in their division by tasks including 'read poetry to another person or animal' or 'listen to a local radio station.'

The prizes for the challenges include one of five $100 gift certificates from businesses including Save On Foods, Books and Company and Trench Brewing.

For those that would like extra entries from each category, you can attend library programs via Google Hangouts including the Adult Graphic Novel Book Club or Double Digits.

For those interested in the Tens to Teens Challenge and the Adult Summer Challenge, digital booklets are available on the Library website
