Prince George London Drugs Stockings for Seniors program is back for another year and there’s still a few more days to make the holiday season a little brighter for seniors in Prince George.
Stockings for Seniors is a program where seniors in Prince George from Gateway Complex Care, Rainbow Lodge, Jubilee Lodge, and Parkside Care make a Christmas wish list.
Those wish list items are then written on tags that are hung on a Christmas tree at London Drugs.
Community members can visit the store, grab a tag, buy the items on the wish list, and return them to London Drugs before Dec. 8 for delivery to the seniors by Christmas morning.
The gifts do not need to be purchased at London Drugs – as long as the gift is new and unwrapped, London Drugs will accept it.
The gifts will then be delivered directly to the facility so that seniors in long-term care can have something special to open on Christmas morning.
The program also runs at London Drugs locations across Western Canada. Northern Health has said it is very excited to have these four long-term care sites in Prince George chose by London Drugs to participate in this initiative.
The local recreation therapy program coordinators have been very busy connecting with residents and staff over the last few weeks to help residents with their wish lists.
Northern Health says the wish lists submitted are all very unique and special and encourages anyone interested in supporting the program to drop by London Drugs and take a look at the tree.
The Stocking Stuffers for Seniors campaign began in 2015, with one store location providing help for 500 inner city seniors. The campaign quickly caught on, growing in 2016 to multiple store locations helping more than 2,000 seniors in their communities.
In 2017, Stocking Stuffers for Seniors went chain wide across all stores, in all locations — and with incredible support from all our communities, London Drugs delivered donated gifts to more than 40,000 seniors.
