The Exploration Place in Prince George won't be reopening next month as scheduled.
Citing "supply chain issues and labour shortages," the museum won't open again until a yet-to-be-determined date this fall, CEO Tracy Calogheros said in a release.
The museum has been closed to the public for the past 26 months, since the first wave of COVID-19.During that time, the museum began renovations.
“Obviously, we've reviewed every option," Calogheros stated. "At the end of the day, we are an independent charity and postponing our Grand Re-Opening presents its own set of challenges. However, the right thing to do is to continue going forward and ensure that we honour the vision so that we can properly serve all of our visitors.”
The Little Prince steam engine, however, will be back on track starting June 18, running on the 2.2 kilometre long track in Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park.
