Don’t worry Prince George drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians!
The potholes will be gone soon according to the city, which has announced it will begin road and sidewalk paving this week to accommodate the changing season, while also beginning some long-term projects to improve the conditions of the streets.
The 2019 season will see over 40 lane kilometres of roadwork, with the following Hart-area roads as the starting point:
- Emerald Drive from Nordic Drive to Diamond Drive
- Diamond Drive from Nordic Drive to Jade Drive
- Jade Drive from Chestnut Drive to Emerald Drive
- Taft Drive from Eden Drive to Glenview Drive
According to the city, all four of these projects should be completed by the end of this week weather permitting.
Prince George’s largest road rehab this year will be an operation on Foothills Boulevard south of Highland Drive as three lanes, reaching nearly 5km in length, are scheduled for paving.
The biggest sidewalk upgrade will be south of that area continuing along Highland Drive from Berwick to Glenngarry Road.
There will also be two new sidewalks constructed by the city in 2019, including 22 Ave. from Highway 97 to the College of New Caledonia (CNC), and 2 Ave. from Ospika Boulevard to Quinn Street.
Crews are already in motion on a sidewalk rehab on the north side of 15 Ave. near its intersection with Ospika.
For any all construction zones, commuters are asked to drive carefully and use extra caution around road crews, suggesting to find alternate routes.
