For all of the bookworms in Prince George, you'll now have more time to grab that great read from the public library.
The Prince George Public Library (PGPL) has announced as of June 16, hours will be expanded for curbside pickup after community feedback indicated the public wanted the service to be more accessible.
“We are pleased that we now have the procedures in place to be able to expand the curbside pickup service so that it is more accessible to our community,” Library Director Paul Burry said in a news release.
“We are also fortunate to have creative and dedicated staff who were able to develop a new way of processing returned material so that we can continue to isolate returns for 72 hours while keeping the return drop open for additional days.”
The new hours at the Bob Harkins Branch will be:
- Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Nechako Branch hours will stay the same from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The library also announced they will be stopping assigned pickup days since the increase of hours will help the congestion and lineups.
Once someone gets the notification that their holds are available, they can pick up the items during the new hours of operation.
The returns bin will also now be open five days a week at the Bob Harkins Branch from Tuesday at 10 a.m. to Saturday at 2 p.m.
The additional safety measures due to COVID-19 will remain in place.
The PGPL physically closed doors at both its branches on March 16 due to the pandemic.
