Prince George RCMP end Tamarack Street evacuation, continue search for wanted men

Residents in targeted home left one-by-one over a four-hour span

The situation on Tamarack Street is over.

As of 3:45 p.m. today (April 10), Prince George RCMP and the North District RCMP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) left the area after conducting their investigation into two wanted men that still remain missing.

At 10 a.m., Mounties converged on the 2100-block home as part of an on-going case into a targeted shooting from last Friday (April 5) related to the drug trade.

Local residents on the street were evacuated and the public was asked to stay away from Tamarack Street as they were conducting their investigation.

Over a four-hour span, several residents inside the home walked out one-by-one; they were checked by police before being released.

At 2:15 p.m., police entered the home as part of a tactic to thoroughly search for 38-year-old Eric Vern West and 33-year-old Kenneth Ricardo Munroe, but did not find them.

Both men are wanted in the April 5 shooting on the 2200-block, Quince Street.

That afternoon, when police arrived, the investigation led officers to believe an altercation occurred in a nearby alley.

During the altercation, it is believed bear spray was deployed and followed by multiple gunshots.

  • Brown eyes

Munroe is described as:

  • First nations
  • 33 years of age
  • 178 cm (5'10")
  • 73 kg (161 pounds)
  • Black hair
  • Brown eyes
  • Tattoo of "KRM" on his neck 

Prince George RCMP are thanking the public for their cooperation today, especially the Tamarack Street residents that had to evacuate for several hours.
