Two weeks after receiving the green light from council, a popular recreational program in Prince George will be back in time for the winter season.
Indoor walking at the CN Centre is now open as of today (Oct. 15) for local residents looking to get their steps in to register for as early as Oct. 19.
The COVID-19 pandemic forced the arena’s closure to reduce any potential spread.
On Oct. 5, during its regular meeting, city councillors voted unanimously to reopen CN Centre for the benefit of the program, as well as its ice sheet for local user groups in meeting with the high demand for the neighbouring Kin Arenas.
In a release, the City of Prince George say the program will be available on weekdays, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and walkers may only register to use the facility for 90 minutes at a time.
This is set to leave a 30-minute break in-between blocks for cleaning and sanitization.
Signs will be provided around the CN Centre concourse encouraging pedestrians to physically distance and practice other health measures while taking part in the program.
Due to safety regulations, drop-ins will not be allowed; visitors must register ahead of time to meet the 50-person limit as mandated by the province.
To register, which residents can do up to two days in advance, you can go online to the indoor walking program page on the City’s website or call the Service Centre at 3-1-1.
