Prince George Search and Rescue saves skier with dislocated shoulder

PGSAR and Yellowhead Helicopters transported an injured skier in the McGregor Range.

First aid and avalanche techs from Prince George Search and Rescue (PGSAR) responded to a backcountry skier with a dislocated shoulder, this weekend, in partnership with Yellowhead Helicopters.

The crews located the skier who was at Red Cabin in the McGregor Range Saturday afternoon.

Red Mountain backcountry cabin is in the mountains above the community of Penny which is between Longworth and Dome Creek on the northeast side of the Fraser River.

He was successfully transferred to an ambulance at the airport.

PGSAR is a registered non-profit organization operating in and around the Prince George region. It  is manned solely by volunteers who respond 24/7, all year round, in all types of weather conditions. 

The group is also currently now accepting applications for a Fall 2023 intake. The application deadline is May 15th, 2023, with training beginning early September 2023.
