The Saturday night (Jan. 25) buzzer sounded too soon for the Prince George Spruce Kings in Chilliwack.

Down by three with 15 minutes left in regulation, the visitors only got two goals, eventually falling 6-5 to the Chiefs and downing their six-game road trip record to 1-2.

Nick Bochen posted a BCHL career-high four points in the setback, including three assists, while Nick Poisson added two more goals, bringing his team-leading stats to 19 goals and 43 points.

Goaltender Carter Woodside stopped 33 of 39 shots while Chilliwack’s Mathieu Caron made 22 saves on 27 shots.

Poisson and Bochen opened the scoring to give Prince George a lead before the 15:00 mark of the first period, but the Chiefs cut the deficit 34 seconds later to 2-1.

Chilliwack then scored three unanswered goals in a span of 3:34 in the middle frame to give themselves a 4-2 two-goal advantage.

Poisson kept the Spruce Kings in the mix, making it 4-3 with five-and-a-half minutes left in the second, but Chilliwack capitalized on a power-play later on to take a 5-3 lead into the dressing room.

After the Chiefs added their sixth and final goal of the night, Prince George surged back with goals from Fin Williams, on a power-play, and Corey Cunningham in hopes of a comeback.

Time ran out and the 6-5 loss downed the ‘Kings record to 16-26-2-3.

Prince George continues its road swing this Wednesday (Jan. 29) in Trail, the start of three games through the Interior Division.
