Kitimat residents got more than their money’s worth on the final day of the first annual B.C. Hockey League-LNG Canada Road Show.
The Prince George Spruce Kings were in a tight-knit battle with the Langley Rivermen Sunday afternoon (Feb. 16), but in the end, each team this weekend earned one more victory to add to the record.
Game two of the northwestern B.C. series tipped in favour of Langley for a 2-1 final via an overtime period against the defending BCHL champions.
Despite the loss, the Spruce Kings managed to get three points before almost 2,400 fans between the two contests at Tamitik Arena.
Much like his linemate Andrew Seaman on Saturday, Carter Cochrane scored his first goal in more than 20 games.
The 18-year-old’s fourth of the season came at 9:13 of the opening period with assists from Seaman and Nick Bochen, who got to the 25-point plateau himself.

The @SpruceKings are off to another great start, up 1-0 over the Langley Rivermen in the first period pic.twitter.com/gQZQioxKj5
The 1-0 lead stood for Prince George for nearly two full frames, including the entirety of the second, until Langley tied it up with less than 12 minutes in regulation.
Overtime was needed after nobody broke the stalemate at the final buzzer, but it was the Rivermen sealing the 2-1 victory over two minutes into the extra stanza.
The Spruce Kings’ record now stands at 18-31-3-4 with only two games left on the 2019-20 schedule and both of them are on home ice before playoffs.
Prince George will welcome the league regular season-champion Coquitlam Express to the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena this Friday (Feb. 21) and Saturday (Feb. 22).
Puck-drop is slated for 7 p.m. both nights.
The @LangleyRivermen win it 2-1 in overtime!

What an amazing sequence to cap off the #BCHLRoadShow in Kitimat, as both teams trade odd-man rushes for almost a full minute until Hunter McCoy wins it for Langley pic.twitter.com/s41HShvD9b
